One of the major tenets in the thirteen articles of Jewish faith that Rabbi Moses Ben Maimon (Maimonides) wrote is the belief and affirmation that the Mashiach (Messiah) would come. The Mashiach is always been the hope of Israel for generations past to the present, for as we know that even Father Avraham saw His coming and rejoice in that fact, as it is written: Yochanan / John 8:56 … father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw [it], and was glad.

The Hebrew Scriptures provide a vivid picture of who he is and how to recognize Him when He comes. It gives us his birth place (Beit-Lechem according to Micah 5.1), and the time of his coming (Daniel 9) his work and mission (Yeshayahu / Isaiah 52:7-53:12), his teaching is to be impregnated with Torah through and through (see Mattityahu 5), and brings שלמה / Shelema / Harmony to the Hebrew Scriptures and not contradictions (see Mattityahu 5:17). Indeed we just have described Mashiach Ben Yosef (Mashiach the son of Joseph, the suffering servant).

This first description of Mashiach describes him perfectly, and yes we can compare Mashiach with Moshe Rabbeinu (Moses our Teacher), since “Moshe Rabbeinu first came to the Israel to tell them that HaShem will take them out of Mitzrayim (Egypt). Then a long while later, after the 10 plagues, and the Korban Pesach (Passover sacrifice) He reappeared and actually led them out. So too, first Mashiach will appear and announce “The time of your redemption has arrived”. Then He will reappear and actually take us out of Exile;” as it was explained by the R. Yehudah Aryeh Leib.

We also have a description of Mashiach’s return at the end of the Yemot HaMashiach (Days of Mashiach) given by Zecharya 12-14, Yechezkel / Ezekiel 34-48, Ovadya / Obadiah, Yeshayahu 2, and many more… Indeed, Mashiach Ben David (Messiah son of David, King Messiah) will make Himself known to all eyes to see (Zecharya 12:10), and He will defeat the enemies of God, and rebuild the Beit HaMikdash and teach us Torah from Yisrael! This is our Holy Mashiach, one Mashiach two comings! We Want Mashiach Now!
