Weekly Sidra: Bamidbar (Numbers) Torah Portion: Bamidbar / Numbers 1:1-4:20 Haftorah: Hoshea / Hosea 2:1-2:22 “The number of the people of Israel shall be like that of the sands of the sea, which cannot be measured or counted; and instead of being told, "You are Not-My-People," they shall be called Children-of-the-Living-God.” (Hosea 2:1) One thing that can be said about the Jewish people is that they have a strong resiliency for survival. This week’s reading starts the book of Bamidbar or Numbers in English. Moses is commanded to take a census of the children of Israel. The Haftarah portion states that the people of Israel will be too numerous to count and that they shall be the people of God.
