Shavuot / Zeman matan Torateinu

On the holiday of Shavuot, the 6th day of the month of Sivan, 3313 years ago, the entire Jewish nation received the Torah on Mount Sinai and heard the Ten commandments from God Himself. The Torah primarily presents the feast of Shavuot as a harvest festival, which represented the end of the barley harvest and the first fruits of the wheat harvest (Shemot / Ex 34:22; Bamidbar / Num 28:26; Devarim / Deut 16:10).[5] Later, Jewish tradition links Shavuot with the day Israel received the Torah at Sinai. Traditionally dairy products are often eaten because Song of Songs compares the Torah to milk — some stay awake all night in one long study session of the Torah. Generally Exodus (or at least the 10 commandments) are read along with the book of Ruth on this holy day. In Acts we learn Shavuot was the day the Ruach (Holy [...]

What is Messianic Judaism?

What is Messianic Judaism?

The earliest followers and disciples of Rabbi Yeshua of Nazareth believed that Yeshua was the promised Mashiach (Messiah) of Israel and the Redeemer of all nations. However, they did not believe that Yeshua came to start a new religion or to abolish the Torah (Teaching, Instruction) of Moshe; instead, they continued to worship the God of Abraham, I ...

Is it Jewish to Believe in our Rabbi Yeshua HaMashiach?

Is it Jewish to Believe in our Rabbi Yeshua HaMashiach?

To some, the concept of a Jew believing in our Rabbi Yeshua seems to be a contradiction. The reason is, many people have a dichotomy set up in their minds. On the one hand, you have Jews and Judaism and on the other hand, Christians and Christianity. You are either one or the other…..so the thinking goes. But this simple dichotomy is in real ...

Messianic Judaism – We are not the "Jewish church"

Take up your cross daily?

Take up your cross daily?

How Jewish is that? Do you think this saying is very Jewish? Does it have a Jewish connotation? Believe it or not, this passage has been misunderstood completely. This passage is all about taking the mantle of leadership, not about dying crucified, or expecting one day as a martir, or even wearing a cross. We read in the Book of Uri / Luke 9 (23-25 ...

The Karaite Deception

The Karaite Deception

After studying the Karaite movement, we have determined that it’s primary aim in sharing its theology with Messianic Jews, is to get it to legitimize its authority over them, by attacking orthodox Judaism’s authority on matter of halacha, especially the moedim, and to establish itself as the rightful interpreters and authority on script ...

Messianic Judaism – The Doctrinal Dilemma

Messianic Judaism – The Doctrinal Dilemma

There is a saying in English which we call the KISS method.  Keep It Simple Stupid.  It means that when we are trying to explain something we should keep it at a very basic level so that everyone can understand. I believe that this must also apply to the situation of doctrines and beliefs.  The harder we make it for people to underst ...

The Mask of the Marranos Jews

The Mask of the Marranos Jews

The creation of the modern state of Israel has awakened many dormant cultural pursuits, perhaps none so dramatic as the discovery of long-lost Jews. Every decade or so, another tribe of supposed descendants of biblical Israel—marked by quirky uses of Jewish symbols, eclectic religious observance, and a smattering of Hebrew prayers — is ...
