This week”s reading is a double portion since it is a nonleap year.  We are reading  Tazira and Metzora – Vayikra 12-16. These parashot primarily address the issue of purity and impurity.  Often these concepts are not understood and called unnecessary, ancient, and not understandable by today’s standards.  There are many lessons we can learn from them today.  The last few weeks we discussed how to please the Most High in our lives.  These instructions were given to Moshe from HaShem via an angel for the people once there was a Mishkan (Tabernacle). We don’t have a Mishkan, or practicing cohanim, (priests), yet we can observe some of these mitzvot (commandment).  The mitzvot concerning ritual purity and impurity that apply today, without a mishkan, or cohanim are the commandments which speak of men and women, bodily functions, intimate relations within a marriage, childbirth, and brit milah (circumcision).  This [...]
