Speak Up – Sidra Shemot

Weekly Sidra: Shemot (Names) Torah Portion: Shemot /Exodus 1:1-6:1 Haftorah: Yermiyahu /Jeremiah 1:1-2:3 The word of the Lord came to me: 5 Before I created you in the womb, I selected you; Before you were born, I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet concerning the nations. 6 I replied: Ah, Lord God! I don't know how to speak, For I am still a boy. 7 And the Lord said to me: Do not say, "I am still a boy," But go wherever I send you And speak whatever I command you. 8 Have no fear of them, For I am with you to deliver you (Yeremiyahu 1:4-8) This week’s Torah reading begins the book of Shemot or Exodus.  We see the call of HaShem to Moses.  Moses, like most of us, starts kvetching with HaShem.  One of his complaints is that he is unable to speak. “But Moses said to the Lord, "Please, O Lord, I have never been a man of words, either in times past or now that You have spoken to Your servant; I am slow of speech and slow of tongue." 11 And the Lord said to him, "Who gives man speech? Who makes him dumb or deaf, seeing or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? 12 Now go, and I will be with you as you speak and will instruct you what to say."  (Shemot...

May 21, 2011… End of World Begins?

May 21, 2011... End of World Begins?

You have to love it. Here is another "Christian" group proclaiming that "the end of the world" begins on May 21, 2011. Maybe it's just me, but I thought Yeshua said, "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." Mat 24:36. Christ doesn't even know when He is returning, yet we have these peo ...
