Messianic Jewish Emuna Introduction

To be a believer in our Rabbi Yeshua the Messiah is impossible without emuna (active faith), this element for a believer is the most essential along with love, and without it as our foundation, everything will be in vain and useless. So what is emuna? What role does it have in our life, and how can we obtain this blessed gift from God? The answer is so simple a child can understand, yet still, a ‘lot of scholars struggle with it and even deny it.
Emuna (אמונה) is a biblical Hebrew word used through-out the Tanach which describes an active living faith in the one true God of Israel, who we need to entrust our lives with. This faith will enable us to have a sure and steady foundation in our journey through life, and is not sustained by just religion alone which could be done in vain, but a sincere relationship with our Eternal Father just like Yeshua is the goal. Also it serves as a safe guard from evil because when we stand with God and His Word with faith and love, a light arises within us where no darkness can dwell, and the environment for miracles, healing, and divine blessings from the Almighty Creator is activated.
The role of emuna in our everyday lives is huge because Yeshua our Messiah taught us not to doubt, but to have faith and nothing will be impossible for us to accomplish or overcome, even casting mountains into the ocean! (See Mattityahu / Matthew 17:20 – 21:21). In verse 22 of the 21st chapter which was just referred to, we see that prayer is essential for emuna, and the key word is believing! So if we believe, we receive, but if we doubt then it will be as if there is a barrier between the one praying and God, and there will be no answer because we don’t trust God, and bitachon (trust) is an element of emuna. Another factor is ahava (love), because without love we are nothing, we can see in (1 Corinthians 13:2) that even with faith that can move mountains as our Messiah taught, without love, Rabbi Shaul / Paul teaches that we are nothing. There is no limit to what we can accomplish in our lives with emuna, from the most joyful moments, to the lowest and worst times, emuna has a role and is strengthened and refined through time, perseverance, and prayer.
The gift of emuna is simple to obtain because if you are reading this then you have already been called by the Father, so now all that is needed is an open and willing heart to accept our Rabbi Yeshua the Messiah and the atonement and salvation we have through Him, who was hung on a cross, died, and three days and three nights later rose again to eternal life. By His blood that He shed for us as the Lamb of God, we have been redeemed. So now, whether you have just accepted Yeshua for the first time or you already have been redeemed, growth in emuna is essential. Through loving prayer and study of God’s Word (Torah), we will endure through our journey in messianic emuna with the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit), as a new creation, sons and daughters of the Most High God.
But for now, three things last – trust, hope, love; and the greatest of these is love Pursue love! 1 Corinthians 13:13

Thanks to the Father (our God) for Yeshua. And through our Messiah we reach the Father of light. We never pray to Yeshua, because that is idol worship, but we thank our Rabbi Yeshua for the wonderful work he has done, and will do soon in our days. Amen, ken yehi ratzon!
