Parsha Bereshit (Genesis 1:1-6:8): “When God began to create heaven and earth.” (Genesis 1:1)

Many English translations of the Hebrew Bible (Jewish Scriptures) stated that “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”, but the Hebrew Jewish Scritures tells a different story.

In Hebrew, the first pasuk / verse says:  בְּרֵאשִׁית, בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים, אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם, וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ.

It is interesting to note t.hat the first letter in the Hebrew Alphabet is an aleph (א)

But the Bible starts out with Beit (בְּ) Why?  The letter beit is also the Hebrew word for house.  HaShem wanted to build a house in which the entire Torah could live and exist.  What do we notice about the shape of the letter?  The Beit has a flat back and a top and bottom line.

This is in reference to the fact that there is nothing either above or below Torah and also nothing behind it.  This teaches us as Jews not to look to anything else but HaShem and the Torah.  Bereshit is also a picture of the return of Messiah as the Beit can also be a reference to the Beit Hamikdash (The Holy Temple), May it be built speedily in our days!! 

In the Besorah HaTova (Good News) we read “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Yochanan (John) 1:1. 

Where was the Word in the beginning?  In the Hebrew Bible we see אֵת ,  this is et.  Et is neither a word nor an alien life form. (ET phone home – I couldn’t resist)  Et is a pointer in Hebrew.  It is made up of the Aleph and the Tav.  These are the first and the last letters of the Hebrew AlefBeit.

In Revelation 22:13 Yeshua states “I am the Alpha and the Omega — the Beginning and End — the First and the Last.”  I would submit to you, being the Jew that he was, Yeshua really said I am the Aleph and the Tav the ET of creation.
