La comunidad judía en españa no gozó de paz ni con cristianos ni con musulmanes, a penas breves periodos de calma, más por intereses políticos de unos y otros dominadores que por un deseo real de convivencia. Perseguidos y acosados por cristianos y musulmanes, finalmente los judíos españoles fueron forzados a tomar una decisión, convertirse, aceptar el exilio, o morir en las hogueras de la inquisición. Los descendientes de aquellos judíos forzados a la conversión son hoy los Benei Anusim. Y han comenzado a recuperar sus raíces y su identidad robada. En la Península Ibérica, cuando todavía estaba dividida en varios reinos, cientos, miles de judíos fueron forzados a convertirse al cristianismo. La iglesia cristiana incitaba al odio y los reyes cristianos los abrumaban con impuestos "especiales" , hasta que todo culminaría con el decreto de expulsión, la conversión forzada o la muerte. Los judíos que se quedaron, tuvieron que sobrevivir, muchas veces en silencio, ocultándose a cada instante de las miradas inquisitoriales de sus vecinos, las denuncias y finalmente los tribunales del "santo oficio". Y todo en nombre de jesus. Pero la iglesia no contaba con que el espiritu del pueblo de Israel, siempre sobrevive a sus enemigos.
