Eikev, Ekev, Ekeb, or Eqeb (עקב — Hebrew for “if [you follow],” the second word, and the first distinctive word, in the parshah) is the 46th weekly Torah portion (parshah) in the annual Jewish cycle of Torah reading and the third in the book of Deuteronomy. It comprises Deuteronomy 7:12–11:25. Jews in the Diaspora generally read it in August.

Weekly Sidra: Ekev (Consequence) Torah Portion: Devarim / Deuteronomy 7:12-11:25 Haftorah: Yeshayahu / Isaiah 49:14-51:3 Devarim 7:12: It shall be as a consequence of you listening to these mishpatim and guard and perform them, then Hashem your God will keep the covenant and the kindness for you that He swore to your forefather. It shall be if you listen to these mishpatim- Moshe Rabbeinu continue to discuss the importance of Israel’s involvement in the covenant for it to beneficial to us. The word עקב ekev gets much attention by the commentators of the Torah. The reason being is because, at first glance, it seems to be the wrong word.
