עד מתי – Ad Matai – How long!

Ad Matai - How long!

The advent of the Mashiach is the only hope that the people in the nation of Israel and the world should have. Why is that? Mashiach will bring final peace to the whole world; Mashiach will restore all things as they should, as they were in the Gan Eden (Garden of Eden). The relationship that HaShem had with people in this world will be restored as at first. He will dwell with us, and we with Him. So our desire from the depth of our souls is concerning the coming of Mashiach who will bring the ultimate Yeshuah (Salvation) to His people.

But how do we participate in the coming of Mashiach? If you are willing and not ashamed of our God, HaShem Eloheinu, Elohei Yisrael (HaShem our God, the God of Israel), we can offer some simple suggestions, and we can all participate in this such great world event!

Study of the Hebrew Scriptures: As we read the scriptures our sincere prayer should be “HaShem show me the Mashiach of which Your scriptures speak. Remove any pre-conception from me, and help me to see the holy Mashiach.”

Keeping the Mitzvot (Commandments) that our God has commanded us through out the Hebrew Scriptures that we have read weekly: How can we claim to know God without the keeping of His mitzvot? All mitzvot are for our good, and are to be done with a heart of gratitude because of the Yeshuah (Salvation) that He provides through His holy Mashiach.

No amount of good mitzvot will bring the holy Mashiach to the earth. HaShem, HaKodesh Baruch Hu (The Holy One blessed be He) has written in Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 63.5 "And I looked, and there was none to help, and I beheld in astonishment, and there was none to uphold; therefore Mine own arm brought salvation unto Me…" This means that no amount of effort will be good enough to merit His coming, but through His goodness towards Israel will reveal Mashiach as per Zecharya 12:10

Chafetz Chaim, Chizuk Emunah, quoted in Chafetz Chaim al Hatorah, Vayera, p. 56f., note 2. Note also Torat Ze’ev, quoted in Hagadah shel Pesach Mibet Levi [Brisk], p. 120: "It is incumbent to await the coming of Mashiach every single day, and all day long.. It is not enough to believe in the coming of Mashiach, but each day one must await his coming.. Furthermore, it is not enough to await his coming every day, but it is to be in the manner of our prayer “we await Your salvation all the day,” that is, to await and expect it every day, and all day long, literally every moment!"

Would you cry to God today? We want Mashiach now!
